Joaquina Art

Joaquina Art

In June of 2023, The Carioca Kitchen project was blooming. I had been living abroad for 22 years and felt that my disconnection from my home was partly due to a lack of representation. The idea was to document my family recipes and share the culture of Rio, our habit of setting beautiful tables, and the food of Brazil in this space.

At this point, I was working on a collection for a merchandise shop to go along with it. And after visiting a few iconic spots in Rio, I came up with the idea to create artworks that whimsically showed these dining experiences.

Joaquina is an iconic and classic boteco in Rio serving nourishing delicious comfort favorites.

There is one original painting available for sale as well as prints. Please note these are made to order and drop shipped from the printer.

About the artist

A San Francisco native, I have roots on the east and west coasts - both of which feel like home. Having attended Colgate University as well as Parsons School of Design prior to working in NYC for Rodrigo Corral, I now live in Stonington, CT and focus on commissioned designs and ready-made paintings.

My custom ink and water-color creations are both whimsical and elegant, reflecting the personal components of each client. My ready-made paintings reflect my own joyful imaginings.

I have been asked to create my signature designs for individuals, designers and brands to bring a fantastic, intimate and unique approach to crests, stationary, event collateral, heraldry, decor and more. When I'm not painting, I love to be outdoors with my husband and our two kiddos. Preferably near or in the ocean.
